Who issues a VAT invoice
Only VAT payers, that is businesses registered for VAT with a VAT code. If you are not registered, issue an ordinary invoice without VAT.
What it must contain
Article 80 of the VAT law: series and number, issue date, the seller and buyer with names, addresses and VAT codes, the goods or services with quantities and prices excluding VAT, the taxable amount and VAT per rate, and for 0 % or exempt supplies the legal basis. The checklist below the editor shows the main details still missing.
Rates and reverse charge
Rates 21, 12, 5 and 0 % are available. For a VAT-registered business customer in another EU country choose reverse charge: no VAT is charged and the document says “Atvirkštinis apmokestinimas” (with the English translation on an English document). VAT invoices are made in euros only.
